John Smeaton High School > Chemical Accident

Media reports have described how five teenage school children suffered injuries at John Smeaton High School in Cross Gates, Leeds following what police have describes as a “chemical incident”.

It is believed the school children are aged between 13 and 14 but it is unclear at this stage how many were boys or girls or what chemicals were involved and most importantly there are no details as to how the children came into contact with the chemicals.

The school has remained open and parents and guardians of the children hurt have been informed.

Schools and other educational establishments have a duty of care to ensure pupils, staff or anyone else who visits their premises are kept safe and properly protected from being injured in an accident.
