From 1 August 2007, every home put on the property market with four or more bedrooms will need a Home Information Pack, which includes a home energy efficiency rating.
Home Information Packs or HIPs include an Energy Performance Certificate, containing advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills as well as a sale statement, searches and evidence of title.
Home Information Packs are planned to be extended to to smaller homes by the end of this year.
