The Cost of No Car Insurance - a timely reminder

Fail to renew your car insurance on time and you could find yourself paying far more than a fine.

Having no car insurance is an offence under the Road Traffic Act which upon conviction can result in a fine of up to £5,000, between 6 and 8 penalty points and possible disqualification. The costs in terms of increased insurance premiums and in a worst case scenario possible loss of livelihood are not the only potential costs.

Have an accident whilst not insured which turns out to be your fault and those costs can escalate rapidly.

Not only would you face the costs of repair to your own vehicle but also the costs of repair to any third party vehicle and to make matters worse the possibility of claims for personal injury.

For example, imagine being involved in an accident which is your fault where there are 4 occupants in the third party vehicle, 3 of whom are minors.

If all of those were to suffer personal injury of even a minor nature then the cost of not being insured would lead to a potentially very expensive bill once the costs of the compensation for personal injuries and potential legal costs are taken into account.

These costs would become frightenly real and it therefore pays to ensure that that renewal premium on your car insurance is paid in a timely fashion.

Whilst insurers used to grant a 14 day grace period in which to renew, this is now no longer the case. Check that insurance policy renewal date today.

If you are injured in a road accident, whether as a driver, passenger or pedestrian, Pinto Potts can help you claim compensation.
